Wild One

“Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. Her name is Wild Woman, but she is an endangered species.” – Women Who Run With the Wolves

“We are filled with a longing for the wild. There are few culturally sanctioned antidotes for this yearning. We are taught to feel shame for such a desire. We grew our hair long and used it to hide our feelings. But the shadow of Wild Woman still lurks behind us during our days and in our nights. No matter where we are, the shadow that trots behind us is definitely four- footed.” –Clarissa Pinkola Estes

I had only begun to hold Women Who Run With the Wolves between my hands, my fingers turned the first pages to the Forward, and my eyes feasted on the passage above.  It spoke to me so loudly that I had to close the book to silence its screams.  But the echo remained, and refrained.  Staying with me until I was soaked through in it’s truth.  This book I  know will change me.  I will look back on this time and see the line that has been drawn -between who I was before I knew the Wild One, and who I would become.  It’s time to begin.

Love,
